Woman on test drive rescued from sinking car in Florida

Man hailed as hero in St. Johns rescue

SAINT JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A Saint Johns County woman's test-drive took a scary turn when she crashed into a pond.

Robin Lawson says she hydroplaned during a storm and overcorrected, sending her into about 10 feet of water.

John Gorski was on his way home from church Sunday when he saw the car in the water, grabbed his window punch and sprang into action.

"All of a sudden this window crashes in and water came in, and a man grabbed me," Lawson said.

With the help of an off-duty deputy and another witness, Gorski was able to pull Lawson to safety.

"God's timing put us in this spot exactly at the time that he needed us. If we were 10 minutes later, she probably wouldn't be here," Gorski said.
