Man shot in Sanford walks into hospital, refuses to cooperate with police

Neighborhood shooting investigated

SANFORD, Fla. – A man shot in Sanford walked into a hospital for treatment but refused to cooperate with authorities, according to police.

Sanford police said Terrence Denard Perkins, 34, went to Central Florida Regional Hospital around 10 p.m. Tuesday, about 10 minutes after a neighbor called 911 to report a shooting at a home near San Lanta Circle and Mara Court.

Perkins, who was shot in the arm and chest, underwent surgery but wouldn't provide any details about the shooting, police said.

Investigators went to his home and said they found forced entry through the front door and two shell casings outside.  Crime scene tape was placed around the entire street to secure the area until daybreak.

The shooter has not been caught, but police said there's no threat to the community.

Perkins was released from prison in 2010 after being sentenced in 2007 for trafficking cocaine and fleeing law enforcement.
