Man shot near Seminole Towne Center, authorities say

Man in stable condition, Sanford police say

SANFORD, Fla. – A man has been shot near the Seminole Towne Center on Friday morning, according to authorities.

Sanford police said the shooting was reported outside of the Steak n' Shake on Towne Center Circle near the mall shortly after 7 a.m.

The shooting wasn't related to Black Friday and somehow barhoppers ended up at the Seminole Towne Center, police said.

"At this time, we know that the people involved were not from this area," said Sanford police officer Shannon Cordingly. "They happen to be harhopping up and down the I-4 corridor. We are not sure why they ended up in Sanford, we are further investigating that."

Clothes were seen on the ground next to the white Nissan that the group rented.

"Whenever an incident like this occurs within our community, we are deeply saddened.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and family members during this difficult time," said mall manager Larry Scollo.

The man has been taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition with two gunshot wounds, one in each arm.

No other details were immediately available.
