Orange County deputies are looking for the person who attacked a man on his way home from work, pummeling him on the side of a road.
What the man wants other drivers to know is all he did was honk at a driver when his nightmare started.
Steve, who didn't want Local 6 to use his last name, said he was driving early Saturday morning on State Road 535 near Winter Garden Vineland Road.
“Out of my rear-view mirror I see this guy coming at me really fast, and I'm thinking, 'He's going to hit me,'" Steve said.
Steve said a dark colored sedan was swerving in and out of traffic, prompting him to honk his horn. After trying to go around the car, he said the driver cut him off and he was only able to get away after going into a nearby median.
"I kept speeding up to get further and further away, not knowing what he was capable of doing," Steve said.
But the driver caught up to him again, sped past him, eventually stopping in the middle of the roadway, blocking both lanes. That's when he said the man, who was wearing all black clothing, approached him.
The man asked Steve what his problem was and then punched him three times in the face. The man then sped off in his car, leaving Steve bloody at the scene.
“If something that little sets somebody off like that, you don't know what he's capable of if something worse happens, and I don't want to see that happen,” Steve said.
He said his attacker went into the nearby Summerport neighborhood. He also said there was another driver who may have witnessed the attack and is hoping that person will come forward.
The man deputies are looking for has black hair, a full beard and was driving a brown or gold sedan during the attack.
