Man struck, killed by cargo train in Daytona Beach

Officials say train was traveling 35 miles per hour

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona Beach police say a man was struck and killed by a southbound Florida East Coast Railway cargo train.

The man was hit about 8:30 p.m. Monday. Officials say the train was traveling about 35 miles per hour when it hit the man.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the victim was identified as 49-year-old Carl Labreck, who police believed was homeless.

Police say the train's conductor/engineer reported the accident.
