Man suspected in over 40 burglaries

Wesley Burruss, 42, arrested in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man arrested in connection with a January store burglary is also suspected in more than 40 other thefts in Central Florida, according to investigators.

Wesley Burruss, 42, a convicted felon and registered sex offender, is suspected in dozens of commercial burglaries, including at Chinese restaurants, Latin eateries, CVS Pharmacies and Walgreens.  Officials said Burruss has admitted to at least 10 burglaries in Oviedo, Winter Park and Waterford Lakes.

Investigators say Burruss committed a smash-and-grab burglary at Rice and Beans Cocina Latina Restaurant on January 27 and was linked to at least 20 other thefts.

At the time, owner Kenia Gonzalez, told Local 6, "He looks like he was a professional."

Orange County deputies say he had a similar method for each burglary.  Deputies say he wore a black mask, wrapped a black T-shirt around his head, used yellow and black gloves and a yellow crowbar.

This week, when investigators issued a search warrant, they say they found all of those items in his white vehicle.

The arrest affidavit reports that Burruss blamed a drug problem for the crime spree.

Burruss was arrested without incident and faces charges of burglary of structure while wearing a mask, criminal mischief and petty theft.
