Man took pictures of boy, 10, using restroom in Marion County store, deputies say
Maximo Deherrera arrested on video voyeurism charges
A 63-year-old Ocala man was arrested on suspicion of taking pictures of a 10-year-old boy using a restroom inside a Walmart Supercenter.
Maximo Deherrera was arrested Thursday on charges of video voyeurism, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.
Only Local 6 spoke with 25-year-old Peter Farley, the witness who was behind Deherrera as they walked into the restroom. He noticed that Deherrera's camera video was activated on his cellphone.
"He walks right in front of this little kid in a stall and throws his phone in front of the little kid, snaps a pic and you see the flash light up the whole front of the little kid," said Farley.
Farley told the boy to leave the restroom and then grabbed Deherrera's phone.
"I tried grabbing his phone, he started telling me it was his personal property," said Farley. "I said, 'I really don't care what it is, you're not gonna get away with this.'"
He told Wal-mart employees about what happened, but they couldn't hold him.
"As he's walking around the store with his shopping cart he's trying to delete stuff on his phone I couldn't believe it," said Farley.
Local 6 was there when Deherrera posted bond Friday afternoon. He said he had no comment.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video, which they said shows Deherrera in the toy section and following the boy into the restroom. He did tell deputies he took the photo, but only accidentally.
Deputies are waiting on a warrant to search his cell phone because they believe there may be other victims.
