COCOA BEACH, Fla. - A four-month investigation led to the arrest of a 39-year-old man from Great Britain, who deputies say traveled to Brevard County to meet a child for sex.
Brevard County deputies say Shuhel Mahboob Ali contacted an undercover agent in January and said he wanted to travel to the U.S. to have a relationship with an underage girl.
Investigators said Ali told the undercover agent he wanted to get the girl pregnant so he could "groom the children to be abused" from the day the baby was born.
According to the report, Ali traveled from London, England, to North Brevard County on Saturday to meet with the child, where he was arrested by agents from the Department of Homeland Security.
"I am so proud of the tireless efforts by this partnership and our investigative team that removed this vile suspect from harming children," said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey in a release. "It is truly unimaginable that monsters exist and walk among us with the purpose of victimizing our most precious citizens. I want this message to be absolutely crystal clear, we will use every lawful resource we have in our possession to find and remove you from society if you try to harm a child, no matter where you may be on this planet."
Ali will have his first appearance on Monday before a federal magistrate. He is charged with using a facility or means of interstate or foreign commerce to attempt to persuade, induce and entice an underage individual.
If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in jail to a maximum of life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
