Man tried to lure kids into car to play 'Pokemon Go,' police say

Altamonte Springs PD investigates suspicious incident at apartment complex

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Altamonte Springs police say a man tried to lure children walking home from school into his vehicle by telling them there was a Pokemon in his car.

Police said they were called Wednesday afternoon to the Hidden Springs Condominiums for a report of a suspicious man asking several kids to get in his vehicle.

Several children told police that they were approached by a man driving a dark blue vehicle, possibly a Toyota Prius, who asked them if they played "Pokemon Go." The man told them there was a Pokemon in his vehicle, and if they wanted to catch it, they would need to get into his vehicle, according to police.

Police said the children refused and began to scream as the man drove away.

A witness told police that she had just parked her vehicle in the complex when she saw the suspicious man in the apartment approaching the children, according to authorities.
