EDGEWATER, Fla. - Authorities are searching for a man in Volusia County they say is wanted on a warrant out of Alabama and slipped away from police on Monday.

Derrick L. Sampson, 26, is wanted for violating his probation in Alabama for a robbery charge, according to police. Holly Hill police say they attempted to find Sampson in Holly Hill, but learned that he was going to a home on Pine Tree Drive in Edgewater.

Officers from both Holly Hill Police Department and Edgewater Police Department tried to arrest Sampson at the home, but he fled through a rear window as officers arrived on-scene, according to police.

Sampson is described as a black male, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and was last seen wearing a white tank top shirt and dark colored sport shorts.

Contact local authorities if you have any information on Sampson's whereabouts.
