ORLANDO, Fla. – Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office are searching for a man who robbed a CVS store Wednesday night as customers were inside.
Just before 7 p.m., the man walked into the CVS at 13960 Landstar Boulevard, walked to the pharmacy counter and demanded drugs, according to OCSO.
Deputies said the robber implied he had a gun. At first, the pharmacy technician did not take the robber seriously, got the manager and then the manager followed the robber's demands and handed over prescription drugs, deputies said.
The robber left without injuring any workers or customers inside the store.
Deputies arrived and searched the area for hours with dogs and a helicopter, but the robber vanished.
Now, other shoppers worry when and if he will rob again.
"I wonder what happened. This is where I go. So it does worry me," said Chris Cuadrado, who arrived at his neighborhood CVS to find the parking lot surrounded in crime scene tape. "You can always have crime no matter where you are, but something like this, definitely. I'm pretty sure everybody's kind of concerned. You hear about stuff like this, but you never think it's going to happen where you shop at."
Deputies said the store has security cameras that may have caught a good view of the robber, and those images could be released soon.
Deputies described the robber as an Hispanic man in his 30s wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.
