Man with George Zimmerman's old phone number threatened

Cellphone results in death threats for Junior Guy

SANFORD, Fla. – An Orlando man says he has been getting death threats after he received a new cellphone connected to the old phone number of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Junior Guy told Local 6 he got his new T-Mobile cellphone and started receiving threatening phone calls, totaling up to almost 100 calls.

"I d get these weird calls, (saying) 'Murderer you deserve to die like Trayvon did. If you're not George, you know where George is,'" Guy said.

His sister Googled his new number and found out it was Zimmerman's old number, the same one he used to call police the night he shot and killed Martin.

Guy says getting Zimmerman's old number from T-Mobile has changed his life.

"I'm constantly nervous, my job is telling me that I'm not performing the same," Guy said. "I want T-Mobile to step up and be responsible for what they've put me through."

T-Mobile told Local 6 that if Guy had contacted the company immediately, it would have changed his number. The company said it offered him free minutes for his inconvenience, but Guy says that's not enough.

"If you're asking, 'Is he looking for money damage?' Yes, he is looking for money damages from T-Mobile," said Guy's attorney, Robert Trimble, who wouldn't say how much his client is seeking.

T-Mobile has since retired the number and Trimble said the fact they didn't do that in the first place is negligence.

"It's more than just negligent, it's totally reckless," Trimble said.
