Sen. Marco Rubio is pushing back on Time magazine's cover headline about the role he plays in the Republican Party, Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports.
In the new issue, the Florida senator is hailed as "The Republican Savior" in an article about Rubio's rise as the "new voice of the GOP."
Rubio posted his response Thursday on Twitter: "There is only one savior, and it is not me. #Jesus"
There's no question that Rubio has been heralded in the GOP since his 2010 election, with many superlatives thrown his way. He is the son of Cuban immigrants from a key swing state, who is a member of a party that has not done well among Latino voters.
On Tuesday night, Rubio will deliver the Republican response to President Obama's State of the Union Address on national TV -- in English and Spanish.
