Marion County deputies are investigating a suspicious death after a woman's body was found inside her Ocala home.
Deputies said Wendy Kane's neighbor called 911 after finding her dead inside her home on Southeast 33rd Court Wednesday.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Kane, 47, had been dead for about five days, according to Marion County Sheriff's Office.
Clerks at the nearby BP gas station said she was a regular, who walked from her house to buy beer several times a week. The last time they saw her was almost a week ago.
As crime scene tape continues to secure the home, neighbors said the 47-year-old lived there alone with a large German shepherd dog for almost two years.
Neighbors said she had some friends -- a group of men who used to visit -- but the last time anyone saw activity at this house was last Friday.
One neighbor said he was home Tuesday around noon when Kane's friends came running down the street asking for help, giving deputies directions to the house. He said those friends were the ones who found her body -- five days after anyone last saw her.
Now, neighbors said they worry what happened and fear the worst.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have known the victim or may know something about her death to call Crimestoppers 352-368-STOP.
