Marion County man fired at SWAT vehicle in standoff, deputies say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A Marion County man faces ten counts of attempted murder on officers after deputies say he opened fire on SWAT teams Sunday.

Dustin Heathman, 35, refused to come out of his home in Williston on Sunday and fired at SWAT teams with an automatic weapon, hitting the vehicle at least eight times, deputies said.

Heathman also fired at least four times at SWAT members outside of the vehicle, according to deputies.

Officers fired back at Heathman, who was hit by glass fragments and surrendered.
