Daytona Beach police search for culprit

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police are searching for a gunman wearing a makeshift mask who ambushed a Burger King employee and robbed the restaurant.

The attack happened early Saturday morning at the Burger King at 825 N. Nova Road.

According to Daytona Beach police, an employee opened the back door of the restaurant to take out the trash when a man lying in wait near a Dumpster brandished a gun and forced the worker back inside.

The assailant stole some cash and fled the restaurant, police said.

A K-9 tracked the culprit's scent to Brentwood Avenue and Lee Street, but the man was not found.

Police said the culprit was described as in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds.  He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a light colored skull cap over his face with eyeholes cut out and gloves.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call Daytona Beach police.
