Masked gunman ambushes, shoots man at Palm Bay home

Police say man was shot at same home 4 years ago

PALM BAY, Fla. – Police are searching for a mask-wearing gunman who ambushed and shot a Palm Bay man as he returned home.

The man, who police said had previously been the victim of a shooting at the same home nearly four years ago, was in stable condition after being airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne following Wednesday's attack.

The shooting happened about 11 p.m. in the 1700 block of Dalroy Street in the northwest section of the city. The case is being investigated as an attempted murder, police report.

Patrol officers responded within minutes after the man's wife called to report her husband had been wounded the unknown gunman, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

"The victim said he just returned home. The wife said he was shot by a short black man with a mask. There were four to six shots reported," said Yvonne Martinez, spokeswoman for the Palm Bay Police Department.

Police searched the surrounding area as the wounded man, who told officers he could not identify the shooter.

Police did not release information about the previous shooting.
