Masked gunmen rob hotel near Orlando International Airport

No one injured in armed robbery

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two masked gunmen robbed an Orlando hotel late Wednesday, and police believe the robbery is linked to nearly a dozen other similar crimes.

The robbery happened around 11:45 p.m. at the Homewood Suites on Gateway Village Creek near Orlando International Airport.

According to police, the gunmen took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and ordered a clerk into an office.  The duo then ran out of the hotel and a witness saw them get into a beige or tan Toyota that sped away with its headlights off, according to police.

A search failed to locate the gunmen.

No one was injured.

Orlando police said the robbery is likely part of a string of hotel robberies, including six in Orlando, one in Maitland, one in Altamonte Springs and one in Lake Mary, that have occurred since December.

Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
