Masked gunmen rob Orlando motel

No one injured in armed robbery near International Drive

ORLANDO, Fla. – Masked gunmen robbed an Orlando motel early Thursday morning, and detectives continue to investigate whether it's linked to a string of recent other robberies.

The armed robbery happened around 3:30 a.m. at the Red Roof Inn on Hawaiian Court near International Drive.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, three men wearing masks and carrying guns stormed into the motel lobby and one of them jumped over the counter and demanded cash from the clerk.

The employee complied with their demands to open a safe, giving cash and other contents to the thieves, who forced the clerk into a closet before fleeing, police said.

The clerk was not injured.

The assailants were only described as being in their 20s.

Law enforcement officials across Central Florida continue to investigate more than a dozen other similar robberies that have occurred since December.  Earlier this week it was announced that a $10,000 reward was being offered for information leading to an arrest in the robberies.

Anyone with information about any of the robberies is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
