Masked men rob Orlando motel at gunpoint

Orange County deputies search for 3 assailants

ORLANDO, Fla. – Three masked gunmen robbed an Orlando motel early Wednesday, but no one was injured.

The robbery happened around 2:20 a.m. at the Econo Lodge at 8700 South Orange Blossom Trail.

According to deputies, three men who had their faces covered and were carrying guns entered the lobby and demanded cash from the motel clerk.

The woman handed over the cash drawer, and the trio took off.

No other details have been released.

Meanwhile, an Orange County hotel was robbed at gunpoint later Wednesday morning, but it's not known if the robberies are related.

Orlando police said the Homewood Suites at 5893 American Way was robbed by two men wearing dark clothing.  Police said they fled in a black sedan.

No one was injured.
