McDonald's drops Heinz ketchup
McDonald's plans use of other ketchup suppliers
It seems that the little red packets usually found in all McDonald's won't say "Heinz" on them anymore.
The McDonald's Corp. is going to be using other suppliers for ketchup other than H.J. Heinz Co. from now on, reported the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
"As a result of recent management changes at Heinz," said McDonald's, the decision was made to gradually transition themselves from using Heinz to other suppliers, which is expected to impact many of their global markets. The Post-Gazette said that McDonald's has Heinz ketchup in Pittsburgh and Minneapolis but uses other suppliers elsewhere in the U.S.
The management change that McDonald's mentioned is the appointing of new Heinz CEO Bernardo Hees, former CEO of Burger King Worldwide and still the current vice chairman of the company.
Heinz declined to comment to the Post-Gazette.
