Meals on Wheels urgently needs Orlando volunteers

Local nonprofit needs 50 routes covered

ORLANDO, Fla. – A nonprofit dedicated to helping Orlando seniors is asking for the community to help deliver meals.

Seniors First Inc. is looking for 50 volunteers to cover 50 Meals on Wheels routes in the Orlando area. The program will pair volunteers with routes near their home or office.

The time commitment is about 1 1/2-2 hours one morning every week, but there's also an option to split one route among a group of friends or co-workers so they can alternate shifts.

Aside from providing meals to seniors who are unable to prepare meals otherwise, Seniors First stresses that it also serves as a safety check and helps combat isolation.

Potential volunteers must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.
