Merritt Island man dies after crashing into light pole, FHP says

Man pronounced dead at Cape Canaveral Hospital, troopers say

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – A Merritt Island man has died after striking a light pole while driving early Sunday morning, troopers said.

Troopers said Jacob Seymour, 37, was driving north on Courtenay Parkway at 1:10 a.m. when he drove onto the east shoulder and hit a light pole with the front of his van.

Seymour was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he later died, troopers said.

The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
