New Smyrna Beach man arrested after police discover meth lab in shed

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Narcotics police officers in Volusia County found materials for the making of methamphetamine for the second time in two weeks at the home of 43-year-old Patrick Graham.

New Smyrna Beach police officers responded to an anonymous complaint about a chemical odor coming from a property on Sunday. When officers arrived at the Phyllis Avenue property, they were given permission by Graham to search the home and a shed on the property, according to police.

After accessing the shed, police found bottles, tubes, chemicals and 56 grams of meth oil that was waiting to be processed. Graham was arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

According to police, the first finding of the drug-making materials resulted from a call to police by Graham's mother who found a backpack filled with tools for making methamphetamine at Graham's home while she was house-sitting.

Officers state there was no arrest made in the first instance because the backpack could not be directly linked to anyone.

Graham was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach for the second response.
