FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. – A missing child has been found dead in backyard of a residence in Fruitland Park, according to police.
The child's parents were helping residents move out of the home in the 700 block of Jewell Street on Wednesday while several children were playing in the backyard.
Police said someone noticed the child was missing and reported it to authorities at 11:30 a.m.
As officers arrived on scene, they searched the home and the child was located in the back yard inside of an open septic tank, deceased, according to police.
Police said an unattended death investigation is being conducted.
No other information was immediately available.
