More rain on tap for Central Florida

Orlando expected to see high temperatures near 90 degrees

ORLANDO, Fla. – The chance of wet weather in Central Florida remains high through the middle of the workweek.

There's a 60 percent coverage area forecast for the region on Tuesday, and the forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of rain on Wednesday and Thursday.

"Once again, we'll be tracking showers," said Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges.  "There's a threat on Tuesday, however, that there could be some thunderstorms with excessive lightning."

An east coast seabreeze produced rain showers across the region on Monday, but Tuesday's rain will move from west to east across the state as a front moves through.

"We could have rain totals of more than 2 inches in some spots," Bridges said.

High temperatures will reach 90 degrees in Orlando, with overnight lows in the low 70s.

Also, there's an elevated risk of rip currents through the end of the week.
