Mother bound, robbed by armed masked men in Winter Garden home invasion

Teen daughter sleeps through robbery

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Three masked gunmen tied up a woman during a Winter Garden home invasion that occurred while her teenage daughter was sleeping in a bedroom, Orange County deputies said.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the woman was watching TV around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday at her home on Partlow Drive when she heard a knock on her door from a woman asking for help with her car.

When the woman opened the door a bit more, three masked men forced their way inside and demanded cash, deputies said.

"I mean I was just waiting for the bullet," the woman, who only wanted to be identified as Miriam, told Local 6. "I really thought they we going to shoot me."

The men stole some money, jewelry and stereo equipment before running away, deputies said.

"They took me to the room, they tied me to the floor face down so I couldn't see anything else that they were doing," she said. "I told them 'please, my daughter's sleeping, my daughter's sleeping,' and they didn't go in her room."

Sheriff's deputies said the woman yelled for help, and her daughter freed her.  They were not injured.

Miriam's daughter said she didn't leave the bedroom until she heard the men leave for good.

"I was just in my room and I heard guys and they were telling my mom to get on the floor," her daughter said.

Miriam said she's grateful the men didn't hurt her or her daughter.

"I was hoping they find or take whatever they want and just leave without doing anything to me," she said.

The gunmen were only described as wearing dark clothing and masked.  The woman was only described as a white female.
