Motorcyclist critically injured in Titusville crash, police say

Man on motorcycle struck by vehicle making U-turn

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday when he crashed into a truck that was making a U-turn, the Titusville Police Department said.

Police said Richard L. Gavin, 71, the driver of the truck, was heading south on South Washington Avenue when he made a U-turn to head north, but he failed to stay in his lane and struck a man who was riding a motorcycle.

The victim, who police said was not wearing a helmet, was taken by air to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
