The Florida Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist, a 54-year-old New York man, was driving a 2005 Honda west on Flomich Avenue when he traveled off the road for an unknown reason and hit a pole.

The man, whose name has not been released, was ejected from his bike and was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

The man was not wearing a helmet, the FHP said.

Witnesses initially said the biker hit the deer, but troopers said there was no evidence of that.
