Motorcyclist injured on SR 520 in Brevard County, officials say

Motorcyclist, 58, hospitalized with head injuries

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday in an accident on State Road 520 in Cocoa, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue.

The 58-year-old man is recovering in the hospital, police said.

The motorcyclist was attempting to get into the turn lane to travel south on U.S. 1. As the man began to merge into the far left lane, he was clipped by a car, which caused him to fall, police said.

Police said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and struck his head when he fell.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries but is expected to recover police, said.

The incident was reported in the 400 block of King Street, officials said.

Rescue crews issued a trauma alert for the motorcyclist.
