Motorcyclist killed in I-95 crash in Brevard County

PALM BAY, Fla. – A motorcyclist was killed when he rear-ended a truck on Interstate 95, fell onto the asphalt and was struck by a sport-utility vehicle Monday night in Palm Bay, Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports.

Edwin Sorto-Gonzales, 28, of Ranburne, Ala., died in the 9:05 p.m. crash, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The wreck occurred near Mile Marker 178, midway between the U.S. 192 and Palm Bay Road exits.

Sorto-Gonzales was driving a 2004 Yamaha south on I-95 when he failed to slow down and struck the back of a 1998 Chevrolet pickup.

The motorcycle overturned, and Sorto-Gonzales was thrown onto the roadway. As he was lying on the asphalt, he was hit by a 1997 Honda Odyssey.

No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
