Mystery woman helps rescue dog after car accident

Crash victim wants to find good Samaritan

LAKE MARY, Fla. – A local woman who was recently hurt in a crash is making an emotional plea in hopes of finding a good Samaritan.

Sharla Green said someone with a big heart stepped up to take care of her dog while she was loaded into an ambulance.

Now, she wants to meet that person.

Green and her dog Maggie have been together since Maggie was a puppy. Twelve years later, they share quite a bit of memories, and earlier this month, they shared one that Green would like to forget.

"Cruising along. I glanced down and glanced up, and before I knew it, it was over. I was in a head-on collision. It was literally like an explosion," Green said.

Green got into the accident along State Road 46 en route to her parents' house on Super Bowl Sunday.

Maggie was in the passenger seat of the truck.

"I was panicking because, you know, here's State Road 46. It's busy. I didn't know if she was injured. I didn't know if she was pinned under the dash. I didn't know if she had gotten out. If she was hit," Green said.

Her concern grew as she was being lifted into the ambulance. Then, from out of nowhere, a woman she didn't know had Maggie in her arms.

"A woman just walked up, and she was holding her. I don't know how she got her. I don't where she found her. I don't know when Maggie got out of the truck. But she was holding her, and she was comforting her, and she told me not to worry. That she would make sure she was taken care of," Green said.

Green wasn't able to get the woman's name, but her goal is to find her and let her know her small gesture made a big difference.

"I just want to say thank you because it was such a comfort to me to know somebody had her. If I didn't know where she was after the accident, I would not have been able to relax and be calm and focus on getting healed," Green said.
