NASCAR is Orlando United

Drivers sport decals on race cars

DAYTONA, Fla – Eighty-six racecars now sport the Orlando United decal. News 6 spoke with drivers and fans about what the sticker means to them.

"Everybody was impacted, and everybody wants to find a way that they can show their support," said Matt Humphrey, Racing Communications at NASCAR.

On Thursday afternoon, racecars lined up to get the Orlando United decal posted on the driver side of the car.

"It struck a cord with many members of the NASCAR community, including the France family who have deep ties to Central Florida and this community. It's something we wanted to show," said Humphrey.

Racecar drivers are also proud to show it off.

"I'm glad that the sports got the stickers on all the cars. It's a great way for us to show our support," said Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Fans also watched as crew members decorated the cars before going in for inspections and gave News 6 their seal of approval.

"I think it's pretty awesome. It's cool to see that everyone supports," said Kaitlin Ishman.

"I think it's a great idea that we all come together and we don't forget. You can shake us, but you can't break us apart," said Collins Hanson.

"It's just a small way to show our support and our unity with the Orlando family," said Humphrey.

Officials told News 6 that driver Bobby Labonte will have a One Orlando Fund on the hood of his car to raise awareness.
