OCKLAWAHA, Fla. - A 74-year-old man was found dead in his home on a 5-acre farm in Ocklawaha, which is south of Ocala in Marion County.
Investigators said his death is suspicious and they are working the case as a homicide.
The man was found by a woman who went to check on him and instead found his body.
Deputies said the woman then called 911 around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officials are still working to figure out the last time the 74-year-old was seen alive.
Local 6 spoke with Alan, who said his dad owns the home, and it was his father's body that was found inside. He came back to the scene to pick up his dad's dog.
"Its like a dream. I'm in shock," said Alan. "I just want answers. I just want answers to find out what happened to my father."
Alan said his father lived with his 34-year-old son, who is mentally challenged.
Jim McDonald, a neighbor, said he's known the 74-year-old for 22 years and is shocked at what's happened.
"I'm numb. I'm numb," said McDonald. "He was love. He loved his kids. It was all about his kids."
Deputies are still trying to track down the woman that made the 911 call.
