ORLANDO, Fla. - Neiman Marcus released a statement Friday informing customers that the store was a victim of a criminal cybersecurity intrusion and that some customers' cards may have been compromised as a result.
The store was notified in mid-December by its credit card processor of the potentially unauthorized payment card activity, following customer purchases.
Neiman Marcus is working to investigate the situation with its credit card processor, the U.S. Secret Service, the payment brands, a leading investigations, intelligence and risk management firm and a leading forensics firm.
The statement released read:
"We have begun to contain the intrusion and have taken significant steps to further enhance information security. The security of our customers' information is always a priority and we sincerely regret any inconvenience."
Store officials said they are taking steps to notify customers whose cards they know were used fraudulently after making a purchase at their store.
