New Central Florida Expressway authority meets for 1st time

Board members of the newly formed Central Florida Expressway Authority met for the first time today to discuss the future of the toll road building agency.

CFX was created after controversy forced two board members to resign from the Orlando Orange County Expressway Authority.

Expansion of the agency in Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties was discussed in front of a standing room only crowd at Thursday's meeting.

Board members elected Lake County Commissioner Welton Cadwell as interim Chairman, as well as other officers to serve temporarily until the board is completely filled.

Two spots on the CFX board are currently vacant and awaiting appointment by Florida Governor Rick Scott.

CFX will meet again once the board is filled to officially elect its officers.
