Shoe company Nine West has just debuted a new ad campaign that has the web buzzing over its slogans and whether they cross the line.

According to the New York Times, the campaign is geared towards women between the ages of 25 and 49.

A representative for the company said the campaign suggests occasions for shoes like other ads, but does it in a more modern way.

For example, one ad features a woman wearing leopard print heels, holding arrows pointed at an archery target with the slogan: "Starter husband hunting."

Another shows a woman holding a handbag with the brand's flip-flops inside. That ad reads: "Anticipatory walk of shame."

Some say the ads could be offensive to women or put them off because of the reference to a one-night stand, or the idea that a woman is looking for a man she doesn't intend to keep.

But the company's rep told the Times that using the word "anticipatory" indicates the woman has chosen and has planned to spend the night out, so she brought flip-flops along to avoid wearing what she wore the night before.

She also said styles in the "starter husband category" would previously have been called night-on-the-town shoes.

There are other ads in the campaign, which reference sending a child off to the first day of kindergarten or being stuck in an office meeting.
