New stores open near Orlando outlet mall

The North Face, Forever XXI open in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Some big name stores will open Thursday across from one of Central Florida's biggest outlet malls.

What used to be Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede is now a new 110,000-square-foot space called the Promenade, which is home to retail shops that will expand the already popular Orlando Premium Outlets.

Bargain shoppers will have even more stores to choose from, including The North Face, Forever XXI, Gap, Tommy Bahama and the Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th.

ESPECIALLY AT THE FIRST EVER TWO-FLOOR SAKS OFF FIFTH OUTLET.

Super shoppers like Jeny Deberardinis couldn't stay away from the special opening weekend sales, especially at the first ever two-story Saks Off 5th outlet.

"I waited at 9:30 in the morning outside for the doors to open and bought a lot of stuff," Deberardinis said. "Two pocketbooks, three pairs of shoes, a jacket, three dresses, two shirts and two pair of sunglasses."

Outlet shops are big business across the country, and in Central Florida retailers have been able to cash in, attracting international tourists looking for designer duds at huge discounts.

The company that owns the space, Simon Property Group, won't disclose the cost of building the Promenade, but the company bought the property last year for $16 million.

It's not just new shops, the expansion also includes 400 parking spaces and its own bus stop.
