No sinkhole found at Longwood home

Family left house after hearing creaks inside

LONGWOOD, Fla. – A building inspector on Monday told Local 6 that cracks inside a Longwood home were not caused by a sinkhole.

Seminole County fire officials were called to a house at 124 Slade Drive in Longwood shortly before 7 p.m. Friday after the couple that lives there says they started hearing noises and loud cracks. A neighbor also told Local 6 they saw a crack develop inside the house.

The family evacuated their home over fears a sinkhole could be forming inside, but building inspector Randy Lamb and a geo-technical inspector spent five hours at the home on Sunday and said a change in temperatures likely caused tiles to break, adding that the concrete below the tile was not damaged.

The couple that lives in the home returned Sunday night.
