Police said its SWAT team unsuccessfully attempted to establish contact with the person in the car. Gas was deployed to make it safer to approach the vehicle, and it was discovered that the only occupant, a white man in his mid-30s, was dead from a self-inflected gunshot wound, police said.

The man's name has not been released.
