OCALA, Fla. -

A 19-year-old was killed in a shooting in Ocala, and police are searching for the gunman on Friday morning.

Police said the shooting was reported just before 2 a.m. at the Spring Manor Apartments on NE 7th Street.

When police arrived, they found Jaier Burgess with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Police said as they were investigating, five more shots rang out, which police believe are related to the first shooting.

Officers heard the shooter was hiding out an apartment at the complex and when they went to investigate that apartment, it was on fire, according to police.

Police said they believe no one was in the apartment and the cause of the fire is unknown.
