OCALA, Fla. -

Ocala police are searching for the thieves they say stole nearly $50,000 in farm equipment from the 4H farm.

Police said the theft was reported at the farm on Southeast 3 Avenue when the owner discovered the locks cut on the storage barn on Sunday afternoon.

According to the report, a 2014 John Deere Gator Utility Truck valued at $9,499, a John Deere 4120 compact tractor with bucket worth $30,000 and a John Deere ZTRAC Circle turn riding lawn mower valued at $8,500 were stolen from the farm.

Police said the thieves cut the lock on the gate at the soccer field entrance, drove in and backed a vehicle into the bed of the retention pond. They then drove the stolen equipment onto the trailer and drove away.

No suspect information was immediately available.
