JUPITER, Fla. – Police in Jupiter, Fla. say an off-duty Orlando police officer saved a 5-year-old boy who was drowning at a South Florida beach.
Jupiter police say officer Izzy Hernandez, 51, worked with another citizen to the save the boy, who they found face down in the water and unresponsive at Jupiter Beach Park on Monday evening.

Hernandez and the citizen pulled him to shore and Hernandez began rescue breathing efforts until the arrival of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue officials, according to a release.
The boy was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and is expected to recover.
