An 8-year-old girl is recovering after nearly drowning Sunday in a backyard swimming pool in Palm Bay.
Police were called to the home in the 2600 block of Lakeland Avenue around 4:44 p.m. after reports were made of a child not breathing.
Police said when Officer Amy Revis arrived to the home she began assisting with CPR, which was already being administered by a retired nurse.
After Revis gave the unconscious girl two shocks from a defibrillator, the girl regained a pulse, police said.
The girl was taken an Orlando hospital, where officials said she was in stable condition.
Police said the girl was at a Memorial Day party with family when she went under water.
