1957: Actress Melanie Griffith, known for movies such as "Working Girl" and "The Bonfire of the Vanities," is born in New York City. The daughter of actress Tippi Hedren, she was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe for her performance in "Working Girl."
