Orange County to offer 'safe surrender' program
The event is meant to help people avoid going to the courthouse
Central Florida residents needing to resolve their non-violent misdemeanor or traffic warrants can avoid going to the traditional jail booking process.
The Safe Surrender Program allows for citizens to appear before an Orange County judge without the inconvenience of going to the downtown courthouse or other measures.
The event will take place on four different days throughout October from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following locations:
- Oct. 1, at The Bridges Center in Apopka, Fla.
- Oct. 8, at the Open Door Ministries in Winter Garden, Fla.
- Oct. 15, at the New Covenant Baptist Church in Orlando, Fla.
- Oct. 22, at the Real Life Christian Church in Orlando, Fla.
Prosecutors and public defenders will be at the event.
This event is in partnership with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, State Attorney's Office, Orange County Probation and Parole, the Judges of the Ninth Judicial Circuit and the Clerk of Courts.
