Orlando car wash owner fends off attacker with gun

Richard Phillips arrested on charges of aggravated assault with steak knife

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando car wash owner fended off a knife-wielding attacker Monday afternoon, according to police reports.

Orlando police arrested Richard Phillips after the owner of U.S. Auto Car Wash at 2605 W. Colonial Drive told them that Phillips pulled a steak knife and began chasing him.

The owner ran away from Phillips before pulling a concealed .38-caliber revolver from its holster and telling him to stop, police said. Phillips then began to walk away, but the owner flagged down two Orange County deputies.

Police said the owner had a concealed weapons permit and his gun was given back to him.
