Orlando Health has named the institution's chief of quality and transformation as its interim president and CEO.
The health care network's board of directors appointed Dr. Jamal Hakim on Friday, a day after announcing Sherrie Sitarik would be stepping down, effective immediately.
In a statement, Hakin said he plans to focus on delivering superior care, listening to the concerns of employees and strengthening Orlando Health's bottom line.
Orlando Health is one of central Florida's largest hospital networks, comprised of several facilities, including Orlando Regional Medical Center, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando.
Recently, the institution has faced financial difficulties, layoffs and scrutiny from upset employees.
