Orlando mayor announces new bowl game in Orlando

Citrus Bowl to host 'Cure Bowl'

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer on Wednesday announced that a major sporting event is coming to the newly reconstructed Citrus Bowl.

The announcement was made outside the Citrus Bowl.

The new game, dubbed the Cure Bowl, will debut December 19, 2015, and will feature teams from the American Athletic and Sun Belt conferences.  The game will benefit breast cancer charities.

The Citrus Bowl is currently under a $200 million makeover and is scheduled to be completed by late November for the Florida Classic.
