Local 6 obtained a statement from Dyer's office, which reads, "At the convention there has been a lot of focus on 2014 and Mayor Dyer has received a lot of encouragement from others to run for Florida Governor in 2014. Mayor Dyer is going to spend the next 60 days working to get President Obama re-elected and after the 2012 elections will weigh his options."

Dyer was re-elected for his third term as Orlando mayor in April over Phil Diamond, a former city commissioner; Ken Mulvaney and Mike Cantone.
